Who we are
InheritanceTaxRefund.co.uk is a trading name of Richmond Capital Holdings Ltd (company no. 17137348), 18a Milner Street, Halsey House, London, SW3 2PU. We are the data controller for the personal data described here. Contact: hello@inheritancetaxrefund.co.uk.
What we collect and where from
- From public records: deceased estates notices in The Gazette (the deceased's name, last address and date of death, and the personal representative's name and address), and HM Land Registry Price Paid Data (property sales).
- From you: what you enter on this website or tell us (name, phone, email, letter reference, details of the estate), and documents you send to support a claim.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- Writing to executors about a tax refund the estate may be owed: legitimate interests. We contact people by post only and never cold call.
- Answering your enquiry and assessing a claim: legitimate interests, and steps you ask us to take before entering a contract.
- Making and managing a claim with HMRC once you instruct us: performance of our contract with you.
- Keeping records required by law (tax, anti-money laundering): legal obligation.
Who we share it with
HMRC, to make the claim. Our service providers (for example email, hosting and printing), under contract and only for our purposes. We never sell your data.
How long we keep it
- If you don't reply to our letter, we delete your details within 12 months.
- If you ask us not to contact you, we keep only your name and postcode so that we never write again.
- Enquiries that don't go ahead: up to 12 months. Claims: 6 years after the claim ends, as HMRC and anti-money laundering rules require.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, or ask us to correct it, delete it, restrict it or stop using it, and you can object to our use of it at any time. To stop us contacting you, contact us with your letter reference or postcode. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office: ico.org.uk, 0303 123 1113.
